A relief full-time opportunity exists for a Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) Crisis Response Clinician | RCMP Liaison at the Nelson Health Centre in Nelson, B.C. This position is until August 28, 2026, or the return of the incumbent.
Interior Health and partner agencies provide comprehensive mental health and substance use services for all ages, emphasizing inclusivity across gender identities, cultures, ethnicities, and backgrounds.

We seek a self-directed candidate with counselling experience, group facilitation skills, and a solid understanding of Mental Health & Substance Use, including concurrent disorders. The candidate should possess extensive knowledge of physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of clients, families, and communities, with particular emphasis on Indigenous communities and resources in the Kootenay areas.

What will you work on?
This role involves mental health liaison duties with the RCMP and Nelson Police Department. The Crisis Response Clinician is part of the Hospitals & Communities Integrated Services (HCIS) team, providing mobile crisis intervention and clinical services to ensure timely, evidence-based treatment for individuals with serious mental health or substance use issues.
The clinician offers crisis response, assessment, suicide intervention, short-term treatment planning, case management, and rapid response to clients with potential physical health and life domain impairments. They operate as primary clinicians using various therapeutic modalities for individuals, groups, and families.
Scheduling:
Shift times are from 08:30 to 16:30 hours.
