An opportunity has arisen for one less than full time (7PA) Substantive Consultant post in our department. This is a replacement post. The successful applicants will join a team of 10 Consultant Community Paediatricians. The post-holder’s clinical core commitments will include Community Paediatrics/neurodisability assessments including secondary level assessment and management of children with developmental difficulties, special educational needs, and child protection medicals. The post holder will be responsible for providing Community Paediatric/Neurodisability care to children and families living in a defined area of West Oxfordshire, and includes clinics within a special school. Clinical work will include a range of activities including clinical assessment, multidisciplinary assessments, supervising specialist registrar/speciality doctor and contributing to the departmental child protection rota. The consultant will be the lead for the department’s multidisciplinary assessment process for children with suspected neurodevelopmental disorders and particularly complex needs. This post involves supporting the quarterly transition clinic together with the medical team at the Oxford Centre for Enablement, for children with severe physical disabilities moving from paediatric to adult care.
Location and layout: The post holder’s duties will be based at Deer Park Medical Center in Witney and the John Radcliffe Hospital, with willingness to work in any of the Trust’s locations and to attend meetings with Social Services Departments and other partner agencies.

Responsibilities
* Provide routine Community Paediatrics/Neurodisability assessments including secondary level review and management of children with developmental difficulties and special educational needs.
* Oversee and monitor multidisciplinary assessment processes and child protection assessments.
* Provide community/neurodisability care for a defined patch including one special school.
* Lead the department’s multidisciplinary assessment process for children with suspected neurodevelopmental disorders and particularly complex needs.
* Supervise and support trainees (specialist registrar/speciality doctor) and contribute to the department’s child protection rota.
* Support the quarterly transition clinic with the Oxford Centre for Enablement for children with severe physical disabilities moving from paediatric to adult care.
* Participate in leadership activities and educational roles within the department (teaching, audit, and governance activities).
* Flexible working locations within the Trust and attendance at meetings with partner agencies as required.

Working pattern and timetable (indicative)
* Programmed Activities: 7.5 PA
* Typical pattern includes clinical sessions in Witney and CHOX/Oxford Centre for Enablement, with on-call and administrative components as outlined in the proposed Job Plan.
* Final Job Plan to be agreed with the clinical director upon appointment and renegotiated at least annually.
