As a subject matter expert in network engineering, you will lead large‑impact fault resolution across multiple platforms, champion continuous improvement, and contribute to recruitment and resource strategy.
What you’ll be doing
* Use technical knowledge and operational understanding to improve service availability through end‑to‑end business ownership.
* Implement flawless change, provide technical resolution, and promote learning to deliver a brilliant customer experience.
* Build effective working relationships and drive business outcomes across internal and external stakeholders.
* Deliver change execution and assurance of fixed network platforms managed by Professional Services.
* Contribute to reliability, scalability and performance of services by driving automation, monitoring and operational excellence.
* Support routine activities and be accountable for system design, build, test, validation, maintenance and ongoing support of all network infrastructure components.
* Lead incidents within your domain, contribute to PIR write‑ups and solutions.
* Propose and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
* Collaborate with design & platform teams to deliver flawless change into the live network using automation and CI/CD pipelines.
* Configure and maintain monitoring solutions such as ELK stack, Prometheus and Kafka.
* Apply network principles to troubleshoot faults, optimise performance and enhance security.
* Support a 365x24/7 call‑out, providing third‑line technical resolution across an extensive range of technologies.
Skills you’ll need
* Experience with Change Management processes and governance.
* Excellent communication with stakeholders and senior management.
* Extensive experience with network technologies and protocols.
* Strong understanding of end‑to‑end service journeys.
* Adaptable to emerging technologies in line with the Technology Career Map.
* Ability to work under high‑pressure situations.
* Self‑driven attitude toward learning and mentoring.
* Strong OS administration skills across Linux, Windows, etc., focused on performance optimisation, security and automation.
* Solid understanding of cloud computing and best practices.
* Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python or Ansible, plus familiarity with CI/CD orchestration.
Experience you’ll have
* Incident response to resolution.
* Delivered results when deliverables were unclear.
* Worked in a high‑pressure operational environment.
* Experience with IP networks and various TCP/IP protocols.
* Expertise in CI/CD pipelines and associated tools (e.g. GitLab CI).
* Experience in a fast‑paced ISP setting, managing large‑scale networks.
* High‑standard Linux system administration with focus on performance, security and automation.
* Maintaining and deploying cloud infrastructure.
* Developing workflow automation using Python or Ansible.
* Completed high‑impact changes in live network environments.
* Continuously learning new technologies and driving development of others.
