Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria MBBS or equivalent Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians Full and specialist registration (and with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or eligible for registration within six months of interview) Name on Specialist Register on date of taking up appointment or to have obtained Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Diabetes and Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine within 6 months of interview date Desirable criteria MD or equivalent Training/Experience Essential criteria Wide experience in all aspects of Diabetes and Endocrinology with a specialist interest culminating in the award of a CCT. Evidence of participation in management Understanding of recent initiatives and changes, including Clinical Governance and Appraisal Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit Understanding of the role of research Enthusiasm for teaching medical students, nursing staff and other professional groups Desirable criteria Experience on risk factor assessment in diabetes Management course and/or qualifications Knowledge of the structure of Health Service Completion and/or Publication of audit projects Experience of clinical research culminating in presentation and publication of original studies, review articles, etc, relevant to speciality Ability to lead clinical research project Patients come first at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.
