We’re looking for an experienced Senior Estimator who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys mentoring others, and takes pride in producing accurate, high‑quality estimates that support successful bids.
In this role, you’ll work closely with the Managing Estimator and wider pre‑construction team to influence project strategy, drive value, and contribute to long‑term business growth.
What you’ll be doing
* Reviewing tender documentation and identifying risks, opportunities, and value‑engineering solutions
* Leading, coaching and developing Estimators and Assistant Estimators
* Preparing detailed first‑principles estimates and project budgets
* Completing and reviewing quantity take‑offs using digital measurement tools (Bluebeam or ACC Take Off)
* Producing bills of quantities and validating rates
* Analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations
* Assessing project risks and opportunities
* Contributing to tender reports, mid‑bid reviews and adjudication meetings
* Attending client meetings and supporting bid negotiations
What you’ll bring
* 5+ years’ experience in groundworks, earthworks, drainage, RC frames or similar civil engineering disciplines
* Proven experience estimating multi‑million‑pound packages
* Strong understanding of measurement methods (e.g., SMM7)
* Confident using electronic measurement tools (Bluebeam/ACC Take Off)
* Excellent commercial awareness and numerical accuracy
* Strong organisational, communication and problem‑solving skills
* A proactive, collaborative and supportive approach
Desirable (but not essential)
* Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
* Experience using Candy or similar estimating software
