About the role
We have a brand‑new opportunity for an Electrical Engineer to join our team based in our Plymouth or Exeter offices. We have a well‑established reputation for delivering outstanding design on built environment projects throughout the Southwest and further afield. Working alongside a range of specialist engineers and consultants, you will join a collaborative, knowledgeable, highly engaged team who love what they do and offer a supportive, flexible, and high‑performing work culture.
We have maintained an office in Plymouth since 1951, developing a strong regional reputation for award‑winning projects. Our Exeter office opened in January 2022 at Broadwalk House in prestigious Southernhay West. We have brought a global network of excellence to the city by drawing on the expertise of our 1,000+ talented engineers, commissioning agents, and energy analysts.
As an Engineer, you will be responsible for the design delivery of significant and complex engineering projects. You will liaise with other team members across the project team and take ownership of project tasks. You will coordinate with other professionals, developing effective relationships, to stimulate future business growth.
Responsibilities
* Provide detailed, coordinated and cost‑efficient electrical design advice to our varied client list.
* Tailor a comprehensive service of specifications, calculations and reports.
* Design electrical engineering systems at the highest level using the latest software design packages.
* Take responsibility for solid technical delivery in your work either alone or as part of a team.
* Look at new ways of working and take time out for innovation and research ensuring we keep abreast of our competitors.
* Produce calculations, reports and specifications with good written communication skills.
* Attend DTM/client meetings and site inspections.
* Work with minimal supervision and may be responsible for your own individual projects. In this role the ability to react efficiently to multiple tasks and tight deadlines is essential.
About you
To be successful in this role you’ll need:
* Proven experience working as an Electrical Engineer or in a closely related role, with a track record delivering on a variety of complex projects.
* Experience of modern technical delivery processes, and use of relevant software/tools such as BIM, Revit, Electrical OM, Dialux and Relux.
* Demonstrable experience working with clients/contractors / architects in a design‑oriented / consultant role.
* Self‑awareness, an open mind, and a spirit of generosity.
* Experience in supporting others to develop knowledge, skills, and confidence.
