Castell Howell Foods is Wales’ leading independent food service wholesaler, servicing the length and breadth of Wales, the Border Counties and the South West of England. We currently have a vacancy for a Sales and Pricing Analyst based in Cross Hands.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Sales and Pricing Analyst to join our team. You will be responsible for analysing sales data, controlling product pricing and monitoring margin performance across various product categories and groups. You will collaborate with other members of the commercial team to manage pricing strategies and ensure alignment with business objectives. This position will play a key role in shaping and implementing pricing strategies, analysing market trends and driving sales growth while protecting profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Sales AnalysisConduct detailed analysis of sales performance across product classes, product groups and customer segments.Identify trends, patterns and opportunities in sales data to support decision-making.Provide regular sales performance reports and key insights to the management team.
2. Pricing Control and Strategy
3. Control and manage product-level pricing alongside the commercial team to ensure competitiveness and alignment with business goals.
4. Analyse and review pricing structures, product margins and sales performance, advising on necessary actions to protect or improve margins.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement pricing strategies, including promotions, discounts and price changes.
6. Margin Monitoring and Recommendations
7. Continuously monitor product margins and assess performance against targets.
8. Identify areas of margin erosion and work with the sales team to implement corrective actions.
9. Provide strategic recommendations on pricing adjustments and cost management to maximise profitability.
10. Competitor Analysis and Quotation Support
11. Work closely with the sales team to produce detailed, fact-based competitor comparisons by analysing customer invoices and competitor pricing information.
12. Assist in the development of competitive quotations by evaluating competitor pricing structures and aligning them with Castell Howell’s pricing strategy.
13. Provide insights and recommendations based on competitor data to ensure Castell Howell remains competitive in the market.
14. Business Insights and Reporting
15. Develop comprehensive pricing and sales reports that highlight key trends, risks and opportunities.
16. Deliver actionable insights to senior management, with clear recommendations to drive growth and profitability.
17. Provide ad-hoc analysis as required to support business objectives and strategic initiatives.
18. Collaboration and CommunicationWork closely with the sales, marketing and finance teams to align pricing strategies with business goals.Advise on pricing decisions that align with customer expectations and market conditions.Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to stakeholders at all levels.

Skills and Experience:

You will be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience in Business, Economics, Accountancy, Finance or a related field. With proven experience in sales analysis, pricing analysis or a related field, preferably in an FMCG or wholesale environment. You will have a strong understanding of margin analysis, pricing strategies, and sales performance metrics.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel (Advanced), with experience in data analysis and manipulation, pivot tables, and advanced data functions. Experience with Power BI, SQL, or other data analysis tools is highly desirable along with strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to problem-solving.

You will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data in a clear and actionable manner with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams.
