As a Senior Residential Support Worker/Team Leader, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day care and support of the children and young people in our home. You will be a positive role model, offering guidance, stability and emotional support, while helping children and young people to achieve their individual goals and aspirations. You will ensure that children and young people are safeguarded at all times and will achieve this by applying robust risk management strategies and by adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures as well as key safeguarding legislation. You will be supported by the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager to ensure that you are equipped with the resources and ongoing training required to fulfil your senior support worker/team leader responsibilities.
Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Residential Support Workers to join our new team for our newly opening home based in Wolverhampton. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing assistance and support to children and young people, ensuring their well-being and enhancing their quality of life. This position requires a proactive approach to care and support, with a focus on developing and implementing support plans tailored to the needs of each individual.
Responsibilities
* Providing physical and emotional care to children and young people in a safe and structured environment (ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed – as mentioned above)
* Building positive and trusting relationships with children and young people
* Supporting children and young people with daily routines, education, activities, and independent living skills
* Managing challenging behaviour in a professional and therapeutic manner
* Working as part of a team and liaising with external professionals, where necessary
* To work in line with the Children Homes Regulations 2015, Ofsted regulations and all relevant legislation and guidance
* Maintain accurate records of care and support provided and progress made and contributing to support plans, utilising IT systems as required.
* Transporting children and young people to education, appointments, family time and/or activities as needed, ensuring their safety during transport.
* Foster positive relationships with children and young people to encourage trust and open communication.
* To complete key worker responsibilities to ensure children and young people’s needs are met in line with their individual support plans
* Support and lead residential support workers to ensure the smooth running of each shift
* Complete senior tasks as delegated by the Deputy Manager and Registered manager
* Complete supervision with residential support workers
* To have an active input and oversight of reviewing and updating young people’s support plans and risk assessments, ensuring that they are completed to a good standard and remain up to date
* To complete key worker responsibilities to ensure children and young people’s needs are met in line with their individual support plans
Skills
* Strong understanding of the care planning process and the ability to implement them effectively.
* Strong leadership skills to successfully lead the team of residential support workers
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with children and young people, team members and external professionals.
* Proficiency in IT to manage documentation and reporting efficiently.
* Experience working with children is highly desirable, demonstrating an ability to engage with younger individuals effectively.
* A valid driving licence is preferred to facilitate transportation needs.
* Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others are essential qualities for this role.
