Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist, Band 7

Salary Scale : £50,861 - £59,159 per annum, pro rata

This is an opportunity for a passionate Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist to join an established and experienced Occupational Therapy Team within General Adult Psychiatry Community Mental Health Teams in Perth and Kinross. The team has clear values, service role and processes that guide interventions and the occupational therapy process.

We work flexibly to provide an equitable community occupational therapy service covering all localities within the Perth and Kinross HSCP. This covers a mix of Perth city and rural geography. We work as part of the Multidisciplinary Community Mental Health Teams.

The post holder will provide occupational therapy interventions to enable and support adults with secondary mental health needs (complex and severe mental health presentations), to achieve their best possible personal outcomes within their homes and communities. In addition, as a band 7 highly specialist practitioner with an interest and skills in Sensory Integration, the post holder will also take on service development and leadership responsibilities in relation to this area of practice.

The post holder will work with the OT Team Lead in developing practice in the wider CMHS to be more sensory-aware, and provide training and a specialist service to patients with a variety of diagnoses who have sensory processing difficulties.

We are looking for a compassionate person with experience in mental health and wellbeing, an interest and training in Sensory Integration and a commitment to promoting the value of occupational therapy. We use occupation as the foundation of our work in collaboration with people as a basis for bringing value and purpose to their lives. This may involve the use of specialist assessment, current evidence-based treatments, or techniques to support decision making, goal achievement, empowerment through independence, supported self-management and recovery where possible.

Our Service provides excellent formal and informal supervision, actively supports individual development through performance development review and learning plans, provides a framework for encouraging CPD and promotes innovative practice. We work together to promote overall team wellbeing, recognising the importance of this and its impact on overall service provision.
