At Henshaws Specialist College, we're looking for caring, dedicated individuals to join our residential care team, supporting young people with complex needs in living rich, fulfilling lives.

As a SEN Care Support Worker, you'll play a key part in helping our students live independently and joyfully in their residential setting. From morning routines to evening wind-downs, your support will empower students to feel safe, respected, and engaged in their day-to-day lives.
You'll be by their side during daily activities such as cooking meals, exploring hobbies like gardening, music or art, and taking part in fun outings - whether it's a trip to the swimming pool, a relaxed pint at the pub, or a pizza and movie night at home.
Many of our students have complex clinical care needs and present with behaviours of concern. You'll receive comprehensive training and guidance to confidently and compassionately support them - creating a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.

Level 1 £13.02 per hour weekdays/£14.52 per hour weekends
~ Level 2 £13.19 per hour weekdays/£14.69 per hour weekends
~ Overtime £14.52 per hour weekdays/£16.02 per hour weekends
~ Fixed rota shifts - no rolling patterns
~ Full-time and part-time hours available - Henshaws is a 24/7 52 week service
~52-week contract (not term time only)
~ Annual leave: 5 weeks plus 10 bank holidays

A compassionate and respectful approach, with the ability and willingness to assist students with their personal care and clinical support needs, while preserving their dignity at all times.
Experience or strong willingness to work with students who present behaviours of concern, using positive behaviour support strategies and a trauma-informed approach.
Ability to support students in a way that promotes their independence, emotional well-being, and personal development in an educational environment.
NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or a commitment to complete the qualification within an agreed time frame.
If no formal care qualifications are currently held, a willingness to undertake and successfully complete the Skills for Care Induction Award within 12 weeks of employment is required.
Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, maintaining clear communication and consistent support strategies in line with individual care and behaviour plans.
The role requires a good level of physical fitness and stamina, as you must be able to assist with moving and handling, including the safe positioning of students and the pushing of wheelchairs, in line with individual care plans and manual handling training.
