Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role:

This Service Leader role provides the opportunity to oversee two supported living services in East Sussex, based in Polegate and Hailsham, each made up of 10 self‑contained flats.

The services support adults with a range of needs including Autism, Dementia, Physical and Learning Disabilities.. Each person lives in their own home and receives tailored, person‑centred support that promotes independence, dignity, choice and community inclusion.

You will primarily be based in the office within the Polegate service, while holding overall responsibility for both services. A Deputy Manager, mostly based at the Hailsham service, will support you in day‑to‑day leadership — creating a strong, collaborative management structure.

Key responsibilities include:

Service Delivery & Quality

9. Leading both services to achieve outstanding outcomes aligned with our Best Lives Possible and Best Lives, Bolder strategy
10. Driving high‑quality, person‑led care planning that reflects individual interests, goals and aspirations
11. Role‑modelling a positive, enabling approach to risk and independence
12. Actively promoting services and seeking opportunities for innovation, partnership working and community engagement
13. Using our quality assurance framework to monitor KPIs, identify areas for improvement and deliver robust action plans
14. Managing resources effectively to ensure safe, compliant and efficient service delivery
15. Encouraging people supported to actively influence and shape how services are delivered

People Leadership

16. Leading, developing and motivating engaged, high‑performing teams across both services
17. Coaching, mentoring and supporting colleagues to feel confident, valued and empowered
18. Supporting and developing the Deputy Manager to lead effectively at the Hailsham service
19. Promoting strong two‑way communication so colleagues feel informed, heard and involved
20. Connecting teams with the wider charity strategy, tools, systems and support available
21. Identifying internal talent and supporting career progression and succession planning

Transformation, Growth & Digital Engagement

22. Embracing new ways of working and leading teams confidently through change
23. Encouraging reflective practice, innovation and continuous improvement
24. Supporting colleagues to engage positively with digital systems and technology
25. Promoting environmental, social and corporate responsibility
26. Contributing to regional growth plans and building strong peer relationships across the organisation

Your values:

We’re looking for a Service Leader who leads with integrity, empathy and purpose — someone who inspires others through consistency, openness and compassion.

You’ll role‑model and live our core values:

27. We Include – embracing diversity and promoting equality

29. We Aspire – always looking to grow, improve and innovate
30. We Respect – treating everyone with dignity and kindness

You’ll bring personal qualities that truly make a difference: patience, empathy, problem‑solving ability and resilience, alongside honesty, determination and a strong work ethic. You’ll be confident in learning from challenges, speaking up when something isn’t right, and leading reflective, supportive teams.

Desirable experience and knowledge includes:

32. Experience working across multiple services or sites
33. Strong understanding of CQC regulations and inspection processes
34. Working with multi‑disciplinary teams and participating in case reviews
35. Experience leading teams and managing budgets
36. Professional qualification in Health & Social Care (e.g. Social Worker, Nurse, SVQ Level 4, or Level 5 Leadership & Management)
37. Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development
38. Confidence using and promoting digital systems and technology
