An exciting opportunity for Pharmacy Technicians to join our Clinical Pharmacy team at our St Richards and Worthing sites. We are actively seeking a reliable and self‑motivated individual, with a positive attitude, to work as part of our clinical teams. The Pharmacy Department provides a service to a wide range of patients with diverse needs across a range of specialities. We operate a comprehensive ward‑based, patient‑facing clinical service backed by innovative technology. You will be a valued member of the team providing this essential service and, in return, will receive training and support to facilitate career development.
We have various fixed‑term secondment opportunities available.
Our ward‑based technician posts rotate between Medicine, Surgery and Emergency Floor, participating in medicines reconciliation, counselling, cost improvement projects, audit work and training of nursing and pharmacy staff and includes the line management of trainee pharmacy technicians.
Main duties of the job
* Provide assistance in the provision of pharmacy services at Worthing and St Richards Hospital. This is a progressional post working within the Clinical Services Team.
* Assist in the provision of a safe, efficient and effective pharmaceutical service and to assist in the medicines management service.
* Be actively involved with medicines management duties, ordering of medicines for inpatients and patient discharges and assisting the Senior Pharmacy Technician with technical developments for this service.
* Communicate with other members of the pharmacy and multidisciplinary team to facilitate seamless care for patients.
* Improve the admission and discharge process, by facilitating the safe and efficient supply of medicines to patients at University Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
* To perform the final accuracy check on dispensed items, from clinically screened prescriptions, on completion of National Accreditation – Accredited Checking Technician course.
