We are looking for a motivated Service Manager to manage our children’s residential services in Rotherham, including children’s homes, emergency accommodation, short breaks and supported accommodation. This post holder will also be the Responsible Individual for our children’s homes.
Background
Rotherham council have made significant investment in children’s residential services because we know that we can care for our children better than anyone else can. We want our children to be placed in Rotherham, close to their families, communities, services and schools.
We use best practice and evidence-based models to manage our small children’s homes, which replicate a family environment. We provide a team around the child to focus on stepping children down to family-based options wherever possible.
We are looking for a Service Manager who will provide line management to the Registered Managers of our children’s homes and who will be registered as the Responsible Individual. We want a Service Manager who is committed to high quality and restorative practice.
Rotherham Children’s Services are judged to be Good. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that Good or Outstanding judgements are maintained in all of our children’s homes and for setting up new children’s homes.
The Service Manager for Residential and Responsible Individual will;
* Provide leadership and management of the Registered Managers for children’s homes in the borough.
* Provide oversight of all children’s residential provision, including emergency accommodation, short breaks and supported accommodation.
* Provide written reports, briefings and presentations to a wide range of stakeholders including elected members.
* Ensure homes comply with all standards and legislative requirements and are focussed on delivering successful outcomes for all children and young people.
* Provide opportunities for children and young people to influence the decisions that affect them and the service they receive.
* Promote a therapeutic approach with both children and young people and staff.
* Foster a commitment to continuous growth and development for the staff teams.
* Work systemically with a range of agencies to ensure a joined-up service centred on the child.
* Management of the residential service budget.
* Monitor and develop standards in line with Children’s Home Regulations and work towards ensuring all homes being Good or Outstanding.
