About the role

We are now recruiting a Research Fellow in AI and Digital Pathology in Dementia Research to join the RLW BRAIN programme. The primary focus of the role is to work with digital pathology datasets, develop AI and machine learning (ML) models based on image and language data, and contribute to advancing diagnostic accuracy, biomarker discovery, and disease stratification through innovative research.

The post offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated candidate to work in a multidisciplinary team to build a data-driven platform combining world-leading expertise in AI, neuropathology, clinical dementia research, spatial transcriptomics, biomarker data, and tissue omics to characterise, understand, and diagnose neurodegenerative diseases.

This position is ideal for someone eager to be part of an exciting, large multicentre research project, as well as contribute to clinical research. As a key member of the team, you will assist with the day-to-day coordination of all team efforts, ensuring high levels of functionality and communication.

The post is available immediately and funded by the Reta Lila Weston Trust until 29 February in the first instance.

About you

You’ll have a PhD in a discipline related to the RLW BRAIN programme, a strong track record of research publications, and a background in clinical and/or basic research. Knowledge of multi-omics data integration, experience with large-scale clinical datasets, imaging, and electronic health records, and a track record in the theory, development and application of machine learning/AI tools is essential for this role.

This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL welcomes applications from international applicants who require a visa.

What we offer

Appointment as Research Fellow is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be as Research Assistant (salary £39, - £41, per annum) with appointment as Research Fellow being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
