Part of the VolkerWessels UK Group, VolkerStevin is an industry-leading civil engineering business, providing complex and innovative engineering solutions across a wide range of sectors including maritime, flood risk management, defence, energy, water and regeneration.
The Bid Manager will be responsible for tendering new civil engineering work within the UK focusing on Marine, Costal, Flood Defence and Water sectors. The successful candidate will be a part of a leadership team preparing tenders varying size from £2m to £100m overseeing the estimation, tender design, commercial, programme and quality submissions.
Primary Responsibilities
* Manage and Co-ordinate Northwest based bid team
* Develop tender winning strategies:
o Quality
o Price
o Commercial
* Commission and manage tender designs
* Evaluate design options and determine winning solutions
* Manage tender programme and budgets resolving critical issues
* Develop working methods, evaluate alternatives and determine winning solutions
* Understand and analyse competitors
* Ability to develop multidisciplinary programmes
* Manage multiple priorities and teams
* Present solutions to clients and senior managers
* Pursue, builds and maintains strong relationships within the industry
* Compare and analyse competitive subcontractor and supplier bids
* Research technologies / project background
About You
* Requirements:
o Degree in Civil Engineering or similar
o Excellent logical written and verbal communication skills
o Min 5 years’ experience (site management)
o Travel is required
o Excellent IT skills in Word, Excel, Power Point
o Home Office – Preston
