Our procurement team based in our manufacturing plant in Sutton-In-Ashfield is dynamic, collaborative, and fast-paced and were looking for a motivated Buyer to join our team on a 12 months maternity leave cover.
What youll do: Youll be joining a close-knit team of planners and buyers, supporting strategic procurement and planning activities in a make-to-order manufacturing environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a role that blends operational and strategic procurement responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Raise and manage purchase orders in line with MRP, ensuring timely supplier acknowledgements and on-time delivery.
Maintain optimal stock levels to support production while minimizing excess inventory.
Resolve invoice queries promptly and implement actions to prevent recurrence.
Monitor supplier performance, manage NCRs, and ensure adherence to quality and delivery standards.
Support sourcing activities including RFIs/RFPs and contribute to commercial improvement initiatives.
Assist with new part introductions and collaborate on cross-functional planning within the supply chain.
Provide purchasing data and insights to support business decisions and stakeholder communication.
Lead or support specific procurement projects and supplier negotiations, maintaining professionalism and ethical standards.
Qualifications: Previous buying experience (ideally in manufacturing, but not essential)
Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
Strong organizational and communication skills
A proactive, team-oriented mindset
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic setting
