The Role
As an Engineering Technician, you will have a role that is out of the ordinary, responsible for the preparation, maintenance, and operation of the Banshee Jet80, Propeller Banshee, and Firejet aerial target systems. In addition to preparing the targets, you will maintain and operate their complex launcher systems, set up and maintain all associated radio control equipment, build, functional test, repair, and disassemble aerial targets and associated payloads. You will also be involved in problem-solving, fault diagnosis, handling pyrotechnics, conducting target retrieval, engine ground running, maintenance of Ground Support Equipment, and using specialist towing and lifting equipment for target movement. The role requires a reasonable level of physical fitness, ability to work outside in all weather, remain calm under pressure, communicate effectively, and hold a Full UK Driving Licence.
Essential Experience of the Engineering Technician
Ideally, you will hold a recognized mechanical engineering qualification or have completed a relevant mechanical engineering apprenticeship. Knowledge and interest in aviation and UAV systems are highly desirable. Experience working in a highly regulated and safety-critical environment is essential. Additionally, you should be proactive, self-motivated, able to work unsupervised, and maintain accurate records of work carried out.
