Job Summary
South Tyneside and Sunderland Speech and Language Therapy Service Childrens Team: working with children with additional and complex needs, predominantly based in Sunderland. Due to an internal promotion, we have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our Childrens Speech and Language Therapy Service. Our needs-led team is dynamic, well-structured, and well-run.
Main duties of the job:
* Assess, plan, and deliver intervention for children with speech, language, and communication difficulties across community, educational, and specialist settings.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including health, education, and social care professionals.
* Develop and deliver training for professionals and parents/carers.
* Work with children with eating, drinking, and swallowing difficulties, including those with autism and complex needs.
* Participate in CPD, research, and innovation activities, and work within a supportive team environment.
Person Specification
Essential experience and qualifications:
* Recognized Speech and Language Therapy Degree qualification.
* Membership of HCPC and eligibility for RCSLT membership.
* Experience with a range of developmental speech, language, and communication disorders.
* Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and liaising with other professionals.
* Post-graduate experience in assessment and intervention for complex cases.
Physical and other requirements:
* Ability to move and handle equipment safely and manage challenging behaviors.
* Competent IT skills and willingness to travel as required.
Qualifications:
* Recognized SLT Degree, HCPC registration, and eligibility for RCSLT membership.
