Support Worker – Thornhill Road (HD6)
Varying contracted hours available.
We are seeking full and part-time support workers to join our service in Brighouse, supporting 7 adults with learning disabilities in a nursing setting.
This role involves assisting residents with personal care, domestic tasks, and community access. As a Support Worker, you will deliver high-quality care to enable residents to live their best lives, helping them achieve their aspirations and ambitions.

Main duties of the job
1. Person Centred: Ensuring delivery of person-centred care that reflects residents’ views, aspirations, beliefs, and needs, and reporting any changes to the leadership team.
2. Respectful: Supporting residents to live as independently as possible, supporting social visits, hobbies, promoting choice, and developing skills.
3. Open: Communicating transparently with residents and team members, acting with integrity and compassion.
4. Understanding: Providing personal care respecting residents’ choices and dignity, including assistance with washing and toileting.
5. Dedicated: Keeping accurate records, including daily notes, involving residents in their care documentation.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Ensure support and care are provided in a way that protects residents from abuse, maintains dignity, and encourages positive risk-taking.
2. Recognize that each resident is unique, and no two days are the same.
3. Support quality inspections by cooperating with inspectors.
4. Follow health and safety protocols, including manual handling, hygiene, fire safety, infection control, and risk assessments.
5. Perform household duties such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, and other domestic tasks as needed.
6. Provide appropriate care according to each resident’s care plan, including personal care.
7. Maintain accurate written and numerical records.
8. Carry out physical tasks like climbing stairs, using hoists, pushing wheelchairs, and night shifts. Adjustments considered as per the Equality Act.
9. Learn to use computer packages (Word, Outlook, Internet) and undertake relevant training in care.
10. Work cooperatively as part of a team.
11. Communicate effectively with carers, families, inspectors, and external stakeholders.
