Band 7 Highly Specialised Clinical Physiologist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Band 7 Clinical Physiologists (Neurophysiology), in a dynamic and busy department at the regional Neuroscience centre at the New Queen Elizabeth Hospital
The ideal candidate will provide support for Neurophysiology services undertaken at all UHB sites, as well be responsible for the delivery of the EMG service
It is desirable the post holder has experience in some of the specialised techniques the department offers, but training will be given. The successful candidate must be able to work the flexible hours involved in some of these services.
The applicants should be both enthusiastic and flexible to meet the many needs of the department, and contribute to the process of modernization and improvements in the service we offer to patients. Excellent communication skills are required to manage the diversity of patients and the complexity of information.
You will be expected to participate in the on-call service.
The successful candidates will join a team supported by 5 Consultants and a large team of senior Physiologists with the opportunity for career development and access to higher education.
The successful candidates should possess:
* ANS Part One and Two or equivalent
* BSc Clinical Physiology (Neurophysiology)/ Masters in Neurosensory (STP Trained)
* Clinical Physiologists are actively encouraged to participate in CPD, audit and research.
* Candidates are expected to have ANS membership and RCCP registration.
Main duties of the job
* Provide a highly specialised clinical technical service, including planning, performing and interpreting a range of basic and advanced complex Neurophysiological investigations.
* Prepare patients for routine EEG recording in a dedicated environment, on wards and Intensive care unit (ICUs), including head measurement and the application of electrodes.
* Setup and download data from ambulatory EEG monitors. Monitor electrode function and record quality.
* Prepare patients for (Evoked Potential) EP tests, Carpal Tunnel Screening (CTS) and Electromyography (EMG) clinics.
* Record routine and sleep EEG's on a co-operative adult according to a prescribed protocol including annotation of the record as appropriate.
* Perform EEG recording on wards, High dependency unit (HDU's and ICU's).
* Perform routine and complex EPs.
* Perform CTS screens and record findings as appropriate to the referral and recognise the need for additional testing which may need doing by a Senior or Consultant.
* Remove electrodes from the patient and clean the applied area as necessary.
* Procedures as directed by the Head of Department.
* Tend to their individual needs where necessary whilst maintaining dignity when in the care of the department and showing empathy at all times.
* Performs Peripheral Neurophysiology (CTS) and more complex investigations Peripheral Neuropathy (PN) independently.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Master's degree Clinical Physiology or equivalent formal specialist training
* Current registration with RCCP / HCPC
* Evidence of CPD.
Experience
* Experience in performing a full range of complex investigations in all modalities.
* Experience in performing EEG and EP.
* Experience in the teaching / training of others.
* Experience in handling investigation requests and determining priority.
* Highly developed knowledge of a full range of physiology procedures.
* Knowledge of IT systems and keyboard skills e.g. Microsoft Word, Teams, Excel.
* Experience of Video Telemetry.
