Overview

We are seeking an accomplished Manager of products and projects in Metrology or related fields to provide leadership, direction, and oversight for the development of complex high‑tech products. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑growing, high‑calibre team and wants to take responsibility for guiding innovation from concept to delivery.

The Role

Based primarily on site (ideally four days per week), this position reports to the CTO and is responsible for steering cross‑functional teams through the full product life cycle. You will translate product roadmaps into tangible outcomes, align resources across engineering disciplines, and ensure projects are delivered on time, to budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This hands‑on leadership role includes direct line management of Product Development Managers and broader oversight of project teams. You’ll foster a collaborative culture, implement best‑practice project‑management methodologies, and keep all stakeholders informed and engaged throughout the journey.

This role is based in Thames Valley, four days per week.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide leadership and coordination across multidisciplinary engineering teams (up to 10 people).
* Translate product strategy and roadmaps into actionable project plans.
* Manage schedules, resources, budgets, and risks to ensure smooth delivery.
* Line‑manage and mentor a small team of Product Development Managers.
* Work closely with PMO to maintain accurate project documentation and reporting.
* Ensure project‑management methodologies are applied consistently.
* Proactively communicate progress, challenges, and changes to stakeholders.

About You

* A strong academic background (degree/MSc/PhD in physical sciences or engineering).
* 5–10 years of leadership experience, with a track record of delivering complex technology projects.
* Experience working with advanced instrumentation or equipment technology.
* Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams, managing both people and processes.
* Salary range: £80,000–100,000 (depending on experience).
* Benefits including private healthcare, life cover, pension contributions, and participation in a share scheme.
* Flexible working arrangements if needed.

Apply while this role is still available.

We are committed to inclusive hiring practices and encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply. Even if you don’t tick every box, we’d love to hear from you if you bring the right mindset and a passion for using data to make a difference.
