Job Description: Job Overview To design and manufacture tooling, jigs and fixtures to assist with the manufacturing process to improve productivity and efficiency through TEOA (TE Operating Advantage) tools of jobs when required whilst providing technical support in trouble-shooting production problems. Providing timely and efficient routings for the manufacturing areas. Your new role Drive manufacturing engineering development by improving production efficiency and coordinating external supply partners as needed. Design and deliver manufacturing improvement programmes across assembly areas, setting clear processes, standards, and quality controls. Provide technical guidance and training to manufacturing teams on process deployment, tooling design, technology implementation, and testing or fixture setup. Ensure production readiness by defining routings, costings, and equipment requirements, and supporting programming and technical training where required. Establish and embed best-practice manufacturing methods to ensure high quality, repeatable, and cost-effective processes for existing production, product transfers, and New Product Introductions (NPI). Support production performance by contributing technical solutions during daily operations, including quality investigations and capability studies. Enable smooth introduction of new products by clearly documenting tooling, work-holding, and gauging requirements. Maintain accurate manufacturing costs by ensuring integrity of routings, work centres, batch sizes, and ERP data. Lead continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives, including Kaizen activities, reporting progress through TEBIT. Collaborate with NPI and cross-functional teams to deliver right-first-time products using structured methods such as FMEA, process flows, and design for manufacture. Support the rollout of TEOA, Centres of Excellence, and Best Demonstrated Practices. Comply with all Health and Safety requirements and contribute to continuous improvement across operations. Your ideal background: HNC or Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Production Engineering Significant hands-on experience within a manufacturing or production environment in a related industry Proven capability to manage projects and diagnose production challenges across connector, cable or electrical assembly and secondary processes. Strong IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software Experience maintaining ERP systems, managing budgets and reporting on project outcomes Solid understanding of quality methodologies, including process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, control plans and inspection plans Ability to identify, recommend, and implement improved manufacturing processes and technical solutions Proactive problem-solving skills using structured tools such as 5 Whys, fishbone diagrams and 8D reports. Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives, including SMED, 5S1, mistake-proofing, TPM and standardised work. Track record of contributing to capital investment projects and delivering measurable results Experience coordinating and managing external suppliers or resources within a manufacturing setting Strong results-driven mindset with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment Ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaborative relationships across teams Experience using CAD and manufacturing systems such as SolidWorks, SAP or Sage Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent continuous improvement certification (e.g. Red X).
