Job Purpose
To provide high-quality, child-centred education and care, following the principles of the EYFS, in a safe and stimulating environment. The Early Years Educator builds warm, respectful relationships with children and families, supports individual learning and development, and contributes to the planning, assessment and delivery of an inclusive curriculum.
Responsibility Areas & Duties
* Curriculum & Pedagogy
* Deliver high-quality interactions, activities and routines that support all areas of learning and development.
* Observe, assess and plan for individual key children using in-the-moment and planned approaches.
* Implement the setting's curriculum, including Ducklingo where applicable, with a focus on early literacy and communication.
* Use play-based approaches to support children's curiosity, independence and resilience.
* Safeguarding, Welfare & Health
* Follow all safeguarding procedures and policies, escalating concerns immediately to the DSL.
* Maintain a safe and hygienic environment and carry out risk assessments where appropriate.
* Supervise children vigilantly indoors and outdoors, maintaining correct adult:child ratios.
* Support children with toileting, hygiene, medical needs and emotional regulation in a nurturing way.
* Inclusive Practice & SEND
* Support children with SEND or additional needs through differentiated provision and inclusive attitudes.
* Work collaboratively with SENCOs and other professionals where relevant.
* Promote equality, diversity and representation in the curriculum and resources.
* Understand and contribute to the graduated approach as needed.
* Key Person Responsibilities
* Build strong attachments with key children and families.
* Maintain accurate and timely learning journeys and progress records.
* Share updates and development information with families through formal and informal communication.
* Contribute to baseline assessments, progress summaries and transitions.
* Teamwork & Communication
* Work collaboratively with colleagues, contributing to planning, reviews and room routines.
* Communicate clearly and respectfully with children, families and staff.
* Attend staff meetings and CPD as required.
* Support apprentices and students with guidance and mentoring if requested.

* Adhere to the nursery's policies, values and codes of conduct at all times.
* Maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries and safeguarding vigilance.
