Offer description

Assist in the provision of care to patients, supporting and being supervised by a registered nurse.

Assist patients with all activities of daily living.

Assists qualified staff by undertaking personal care duties for patients.

Reports patient's condition to qualified staff.

Full range of manual and clerical duties.

Will be required to maintain the orderliness and hygiene and safety of the ward/departmental environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, patient-focused and motivated HCA to join our friendly and dedicated team on Coxen Ward.

We are looking for a HCA who has excellent care values, deliver high quality patient centred care and provides gold standard documentation.

Previous orthopaedic experience would be advantageous. The candidate will be fully supported.

As an individual you must be flexible, have excellent communication skills and capable of working well with members of the team and wider MDT.

The successful candidate must be motivated to develop to their full potential.

The RNOH is a national centre of excellence with an international reputation for diagnosis, assessment and treatment of neuro-musculoskeletal conditions. This ranges from the most acute spinal cord injury, bone tumour and complex joint reconstruction to orthopaedic and specialist rehabilitation.

It offers an integrated range of clinical, teaching and research services unique within the UK and in partnership with University College London.

To assist the nursing team with daily patient cares.

Participate in admission and discharge of patients in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team as directed by a qualified nurse.

Escort patients to and from other areas of the hospital

Keep stock check of the ward and order supplies

Report accidents/incidents to the nurse in charge

Maintain confidentiality of all medical and nursing records

Carry out observations and inform the nursing staff

Communicate with patients and families in order to promote comfort and well-being throughout their stay

Perform hoisting and transferring safely of a patient

Apply brace and splints as necessary

Support the care of all patients learning new orthopaedic skills

Collect specimens

Perform simple non aseptic dressings
