WIRED is seeking a Producer, Multiplatform to join the team in London. You’ll be responsible for creating vertical videos from ideation to delivery across multiple platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, WIRED.com and other emerging social channels. This role reports to WIRED’s Director, Multiplatform Video and works with the Editor in Chief and Audience Development to align content with brand strategy and audience growth goals. You’ll curate archival assets and create original video, working with WIRED’s integrated US/UK newsrooms to identify reporting that translates to video format. You’ll develop repeatable formats for social audiences, mentor reporters on translating their work to video, and pivot quickly with news priorities.
What you will be doing
* Ideate, produce and edit original social video for WIRED’s vertical video platforms.
* Collaborate with writers and editors to adapt reporting into social video; train and mentor journalists to do voiceover, on-camera appearances and translate articles into video scripts.
* Partner with the Director, Multiplatform Video, the Audience Development team and Editorial leadership on programming strategy for WIRED’s vertical video platforms, focusing on engagement, franchise development and audience growth KPIs.
* Regularly review audience KPIs and use data to inform and improve vertical video strategy and output.
* Serve as the production lead on all repurposed and repackaged content across platforms.
* Maintain awareness and provide vertical video support for all brand initiatives, from major tentpoles to sponsored projects.
* Provide general production support for WIRED’s video team on social and YouTube.
* Manage pre-production and post-production processes, including shoot schedules, budgets and creative outlines.
* Stay up to date on evolving features, trends and emerging social platforms.
About you
* Proven experience in vertical video production, with emphasis on news environments in one or more core coverage areas: politics, security, technology industry, science/innovation, and consumer products.
* Experience ideating, producing and editing original social video content.
* Strong understanding of audience KPIs and experience using data to inform content strategy.
* Experience managing pre-production and post-production workflows, including schedules, budgets and creative outlines.
* Ability to lead repurposed and repackaged content across multiple platforms.
* Familiarity with YouTube and awareness of emerging trends and features on social/vertical video platforms.
