Description Support Technician (Applications) | 8598 | Permanent Contract | 37 hours per week | £30,559 to £32,654 per annum | Grade G | County Hall Norfolk County Council are the main local authority for Norfolk providing services countywide to Norfolk residents. We're seeking a Support Technician with experience in application and software support to join our Application Management Team. Our Digital Services department provides the technology infrastructure, data management and user support that enables Norfolk County Council employees to work as efficiently and effectively as possible, which in turn delivers better outcomes for Norfolk residents and businesses. This role is based within Fire Application Support, a key part of the Application Management Team at Norfolk County Council. The team is responsible for supporting a range of critical systems used by Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service, from emergency response platforms to essential business and administrative applications. In addition to fire specific systems, the team also supports several core business applications used across Norfolk County Council. Key Responsibilities: Incident and Request Triage: Accurately assess and assign incoming incidents and service requests to the appropriate team members within the Applications Management Team. ITSM and ITIL4 awareness would be an advantage. Provide 1st and 2nd Line Support: Deliver technical support for applications used across Norfolk County Council and Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service. Troubleshoot incidents methodically, applying systems knowledge to resolve issues. Application Administration: Maintain and update several bespoke fire service applications, ensuring they remain reliable and fit for purpose. Collaborative Working: Work closely with colleagues across Digital Services to support ongoing projects and contribute to successful delivery. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to the creation and maintenance of detailed documentation, helping to keep our internal knowledge base current and comprehensive. To be considered for this role, you should ideally have experience in IT support. Knowledge of Windows Server, IIS web hosting and SQL is an advantage but not essential, most importantly, we're seeking someone who is eager to learn. You should be a team player who is organised, customer focused, and able to stay calm and effective in a fast paced, changing environment. This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that you will attend Norfolk County Hall regularly for team meetings and workshops, typically twice a week.
