Position Overview
Lead our small team of Early Years complex needs Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) and manage a caseload of 0-5 year olds with complex eating, drinking, swallowing and communication needs.
Supported by the Clinical Lead for Dysphagia, work alongside the School Age Complex Needs Team Lead and collaborate with Professional Lead, Clinical Leads and other Team Leads to manage the Speech & Language Therapy Service.
Work across South Gloucestershire and Bristol in the community, primarily focusing on dysphagia with additional communication work using AAC.
Responsibilities
* Manage and lead the Early Years complex needs SLT team (service changes, clinical supervision, SEND work, etc.).
* Line manage staff, hold team meetings and oversee team performance on RTTs and EHCP targets.
* Triage new referrals to the team according to agreed referral criteria.
* Provide clinical and day‑to‑day leadership for Early Years Complex Needs; act as first point of contact for queries and concerns.
* Make decisions on policy implementation queries, referring significant matters to Clinical/Professional Lead.
* Support the Professional Lead/Head of Service with accountability and responsibility for activity, performance, outcomes and clinical governance of the team.
* Assist with recruitment, interviewing and induction of new staff.
* Collaborate with Operational Leads & data teams on EMIS optimisation and data reporting.
Qualifications & Experience
Dysphagia qualified Speech and Language Therapist with experience working with complex needs children 0‑18 years.
Strong clinical expertise in dysphagia and AAC, ability to manage multidisciplinary assessments, and experience leading teams and providing supervision.
