Education Mental Health Professional - Qualified
The Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) were established in Nottingham City in February 2020, providing an early intervention and preventive service for over 892 children, young people and their families. The service supports anxiety, low mood and behavioural difficulties and runs workshops for children in educational settings on themes such as transition, resilience, wellbeing hacks, worry, distractions and puberty emotions.
Responsibilities
* Deliver low‑level Guided Self‑Help to children and families across Nottingham schools, remotely and face‑to‑face.
* Implement MHST whole‑school mental health and wellbeing approach for children and young people.
* Provide training and workshops to schools and parents on transition, resilience, wellbeing hacks, worry, distractions and puberty emotions.
* Deliver therapeutic interventions such as CBT, parent work and group interventions.
* Work with the wider network (education, social care, health) and adapt resources for online delivery.
Qualifications
* Undergraduate degree in Psychology or a related subject.
* Successful completion of the HEE commissioned 1‑yr Education Mental Health Practitioner post‑graduate diploma and/or Certificate in Children’s Wellbeing Practice (CWP).
* Experience working with children and young people, families and schools on mild to moderate mental health problems.
* Experience delivering Guided Self‑Help, CBT, parent work and group therapeutic interventions.
* Ability to assess and refer more severe cases to specialist services.
