English Teacher – Full-Time | County Durham | £170–£250 per day (paid to scale)

Are you an inspiring English teacher ready to bring Shakespeare, Steinbeck, and 21st-century texts to life? We’re working with a forward-thinking secondary school in County Durham that’s looking for a talented English specialist to join their team from September.
This is a full-time role for the full academic year, with pay to scale (£170–£250 per day). The school prides itself on a strong English department, supportive leadership, and students who are eager to learn when teaching is engaging and consistent.

Your role will include:
* Planning and delivering engaging English lessons across KS3 and KS4 (with the potential for KS5 depending on experience)
* Differentiating lessons to support a range of learning needs, including SEND and EAL students
* Preparing pupils for GCSE English Language and Literature exams with confidence and clarity
* Creating a positive, structured classroom environment where all students feel able to contribute
* Working closely with department colleagues to develop schemes of work and share best practice
* Taking part in wider school life, including meetings, CPD, and extracurricular activities if desired
What we’re looking for:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) and strong subject knowledge in English
* Experience teaching English at secondary level in the UK
* A creative, engaging approach to teaching with the ability to inspire all learners
* Strong behaviour management skills with a calm, consistent style
* A team player who’s keen to contribute to the wider school community
