Teacher of Art (Newtown High School - John Beddoes Campus)
Job description
Dear Applicant,
Thank you for your interest in the post of fixed term contract P/T Teacher of Art at the John Beddoes Campus, Newtown High School.
Newtown High School is a split site school – the larger Campus being at Newtown with a second campus, John Beddoes, located in Presteigne. We are the largest school in Powys. Since appointments to the Senior Leadership Team from 2018 we have carried out significant reform including structural changes to the leadership team, middle leaders and
our support and administrative teams. This has provided us with greater capacity, clarity and direction on the school’s improvement journey.
We have invested significantly in professional learning to improve teaching and learning and to develop leadership capacity. Learning is at the heart of everything we do, supported by robust, honest and accurate self-evaluation which has been the mainstay of the school’s improvement strategy.
We have developed our own bespoke ‘Taith 7’ (Journey 7) as we move towards introducing the New Curriculum for Wales. Taith 7 is aimed at raising a smoother transition from primary to secondary school supported by the highest standards and quality of teaching. This
approach has provided students with authentic learning experiences within the local community, National and Global Context. The Humanities AoLE forms an integral part of ‘Taith 7’.
Developing our students as learners has been a key priority and we have worked hard to develop student’s standards in skills which has been supported by our Growth Mindset programme called CHARACTER.
Staff and governors work incredibly hard to prepare students for the challenges that lie ahead.
The community of the Newtown expects high standards in all we do.
We are looking for an exceptional P/T Teacher Art who is committed to delivering excellent educational provision for all pupils. We aim to ensure that engaging learning experiences, high quality teaching, strong wellbeing and the community of Newtown and Presteigne are at the
centre of our school. As a school we have ambitions to be ‘one of the best’. If you share our vision and have the skills, experience and drive to work with us, we really would like to hear from you.
Applications are invited from both qualified teachers, including colleagues from the primary sector, and NQTs. We offer excellent induction and support for NQTs and all new staff.
If you’d like to arrange a visit to the school please contact Julie Evans, the Headteacher’s PA
