Town Planner – Bedford
Location: Bedford
Experience Required: Minimum 2 years’ UK planning experience
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established private planning consultancy in Bedford, who are looking to appoint a Town Planner with a minimum of 2 years’ experience to join their growing team.
This role is ideal for a planner who has gained strong technical experience and client exposure and is now looking to progress their career within a commercially focused consultancy environment.
The Role
You will work on a varied portfolio of projects across the residential, commercial and mixed-use sectors, supporting clients from early-stage site appraisals through to planning determination.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Preparing and managing planning applications and pre-application submissions
2. Providing planning advice to private sector clients and developers
3. Liaising with local planning authorities, consultants and stakeholders
4. Assisting with appeals, planning statements and development strategies
5. Supporting senior planners on larger and more complex projects
Candidate Requirements
6. At least 2 years’ experience in UK town planning within a consultancy or local authority
7. Degree qualified in Town Planning or a related discipline
8. Working towards MRTPI or already chartered
9. Strong understanding of the UK planning system and policy framework
10. Confident communicator with good report-writing skills
11. Organised, commercially aware and proactive
