We are seeking a passionate and resilient SEND Maths Teacher to join our dedicated team in a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) setting. The successful candidate will deliver tailored maths lessons to pupils with a range of SEND needs, including SEMH, Autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties, across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will play a crucial role in re-engaging students with education, building their confidence, and supporting them to achieve meaningful academic progress.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated maths lessons that meet the diverse needs of students with SEMH and additional learning needs
* Use a trauma-informed and relationship-based approach to support students’ emotional regulation and classroom engagement
* Work closely with teaching assistants and other professionals to create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
* Contribute to the development and review of personalised learning plans (EHCPs), behaviour support plans, and risk assessments
* Track pupil progress and provide regular feedback in line with school policy
* Build positive relationships with pupils, families, and external agencies to support student development both academically and socially
* Support whole-school initiatives aimed at improving behaviour, attendance, and emotional well-being
Person Specification:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification
* Experience teaching maths, ideally in a SEND or SEMH environment
* Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and the impact of SEMH on learning
* Excellent behaviour management and de-escalation skills
* Flexible, empathetic, and committed to inclusive education
* Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
