HR Advisor
Salary: £29,500 - £32,000 per annum
We are currently recruiting for an experienced HR Advisor on behalf of a growing and well-established HR consultancy business that supports schools and commercial organisations across the region.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident HR professional looking to join a supportive and collaborative team in a varied, fast-paced advisory role. The successful candidate will provide high-quality HR support to a wide range of clients, including senior leaders, managers, and business stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will already have HR Advisory experience or currently be working as a HR Officer and looking to take the next step in their career.
This is a full time permanent position, based in Wakefield with free onsite parking.
The Role:
As a HR Advisor, you will manage a diverse employee relations caseload while providing practical and commercially focused HR advice across a range of areas including disciplinary, grievance, sickness absence, capability, performance management, recruitment, organisational change, and employee wellbeing.
You will work closely with clients to support day-to-day HR queries, provide guidance on employment legislation and policies, and attend formal meetings and hearings where required.
Key Responsibilities:
• Providing professional HR advice and support to schools and businesses
• Managing a varied caseload of employee relations matters
• Advising on disciplinary, grievance, capability, attendance, and conduct issues
• Supporting formal meetings, hearings, and consultations
• Building strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders
• Assisting with HR audits, policy updates, training sessions, and briefings
• Maintaining accurate records and case management logs
• Supporting safeguarding administration including DBS-related processes
• Drafting HR correspondence and template letters
• Supporting client retention and assisting with business development activities
• Keeping up to date with employment law and HR best practice
• Undertaking project work and interim support assignments where required
Candidate Requirements:
• Previous experience within a generalist HR Advisory role
• Strong employee relations experience and sound employment law knowledge
• Experience supporting managers and senior stakeholders with complex HR matters
• Confident handling a busy and varied workload independently
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organisational and time management abilities
• Experience working within highly unionised environments is desirable
• Education sector or public sector experience would be advantageous but is not essential
• Previous experience delivering training or presentations would be beneficial
• Ability to build strong working relationships and provide a high level of client service
Qualifications:
• CIPD Level 5 qualified (or currently studying towards) or equivalent HR qualification
• Commitment to continuous professional development and keeping up to date with HR legislation and best practice
