NHS Tayside has an exciting vacancy for a Senior Systems Specialist / Network Engineer to work within the Network Services Team, this is part of NHS Tayside Digital Directorate and provides critical Data Network Services to all NHS Tayside facilities including Hospitals, GP Surgeries, and Primary Care sites.
What we are looking for:
The job entails providing leadership and delivery within all aspects of Network Services including, but not exclusively, the following: - LAN, WAN, DNS, VPN, Remote Access, Network Cyber Security, Firewalls, WiFi, routing and Network Management Platforms including Solarwinds and Cisco Enterprise Management platforms.
The postholder will be responsible for scoping, driving and implementing new technologies / solutions as well as evaluating existing implementations and future roadmaps including capacity planning, this will involve managing complex projects but also maintaining our crucial Business as Usual function handling incident, request and problem functions whilst also being a point of escalation for any service impacting Major incidents.
The postholder will have excellent technical and non-technical communication skills and line management responsibility so must be familiar with managing technical teams.
This role will include the above but is not restricted to these responsibilities.
You require extensive experience of Enterprise grade infrastructure management.

The candidate must have the ability to transport expensive equipment between sites during part of normal day to day unsupervised and unaccompanied activities as well as during weekend on-call.
The Digital Team are currently based in MacKenzie Building, Ninewells, Dundee, however some flexibility, with the team working remotely at times.
This is a permanent, full time post (37 hrs per week reducing to 36 in April 2026). Flexible working arrangements can be considered. We aim to provide an environment that encourages work/life balance.
