Paediatric/Adult Recovery Practitioner

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust offers a role within the Theatre Recovery department. We seek friendly, enthusiastic Paediatric and Adult Registered Nurses and RODPs.
Our recovery team operates 24/7, providing coverage across 6 recovery areas covering multiple specialities.
Job responsibilities
WHAT YOU WILL DO
* Provide outstanding care to adults and children, including parents/carers, in the post‑operative phase across a range of specialities.
* Undertake A-E assessments, perform emergency airway interventions, and manage acute patient deterioration.
* Support learners throughout the department and collaborate with the education team for continual professional development.
* Adhere to all trust policies.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
* Registered nurse on the relevant part of the register.
* Degree or equivalent experience.
* Ability to assist in carrying out the transfer of a patient through the intra‑operative phase of peri‑operative care, providing concise, accurate handover.
* Demonstrated knowledge of skills required to support learners in practice and create a positive learning environment.
* Experience teaching and supporting learners in practice.
* Experience working within relevant care settings.
* Specialist theatre work‑based learning course, mentorship course, or training post‑qualification.
* Understanding of personal accountability and evidence‑based practice.
* Aptitude for caring for the anaesthetised and/or acutely unwell patient.
* Interest in research to promote good practice.
The post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and a Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required.
