Location: Kendal
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm

About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive and commercially aware Health & Safety Manager to take ownership of health and safety across a diverse, multi-site leisure and tourism portfolio. This is a highly visible role with real scope to influence how health and safety is delivered across the business.
You’ll work closely with senior leaders and site-based teams, combining strategic oversight with a hands-on, practical approach. This role would suit someone who enjoys balancing compliance with continuous improvement and culture change.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the strategic and operational delivery of health and safety across multiple sites
Develop, implement, and continuously improve health and safety management systems
Create and maintain policies, procedures, and safe systems of work aligned with legislation and best practice
Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on health, safety, wellbeing, and compliance matters
Carry out audits, inspections, and risk assessments to drive consistent standards
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring effective corrective actions are embedded
Produce clear and meaningful reports on performance, trends, and improvement opportunities
Act as the main point of contact with enforcing authorities, including the Health and Safety Executive
Support and deliver health and safety training across the organisation
Lead, influence, and mentor others to strengthen engagement and accountability
Travel regularly to business locations as part of the roleWhat We’re Looking For
Proven experience as a Health & Safety Manager within a multi-site or multifaceted organisation
Background in environments such as property, retail, leisure, tourism, or visitor attractions (desirable)
Strong working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and best practice
NEBOSH General Certificate (essential); NEBOSH Diploma (desirable)
Experience working with health and safety management systems (ISO 45001 preferred)
Confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels
Organised, proactive, and solutions-focused
Full UK driving licence (company pool vehicles available)What’s in It for You?
