Main duties of the job

Job responsibilities
The successful candidate will deal with a wide range of health needsin a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all patients. This is a fairly standard GP role including the following:
* Face to face consultations, telephone consultations, very occasional home visits
* Reviewing, updating and and authorising repeat medication
* Efficient and safe management of results, queries, referrals, reports and other correspondence
* Makingprofessional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whetherself-referred or referred from other health care workers within theorganisation
* Assessingthe health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosedproblems
* Providing continuity of care for patients for whom this is significantly important
* Recordingclear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
* Ensuringthat QOF requirements are always met and recorded
* Use of SystmOne (clinical) and TeamNet (adminstrative) systems
* Contributing to evaluation, audit quality improvement work and clinicalstandard setting within the organisation
* Attending and contributing to team meetings and educational events
* Takingresponsibility for own development, learning and performance and participation in an annual individual development review
* Actingin a way that recognises the importance of peoples rights
* Respectingthe privacy, dignity, needs and beliefs of patients, carers and colleagues
* Behaving in a manner which is welcoming to andof the individual, is non-judgemental and respects their circumstances
* Using appropriate infectioncontrol procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free fromhazards
