Kickstart your Engineering career at Tarmac with our Mechanical Engineering Graduate Programme! Work on real projects, gain hands‑on experience, and learn from the best as you help shape the new era of construction. We are currently recruiting for a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join our Cement and Packed Products Team at Aberthaw Cement Plant in Wales.


Overview

As part of the UK and Ireland Cement and Packed division, you will participate in a 3‑year graduate scheme, helping you make decisions that deliver business impact, present powerfully, communicate effectively, and develop key skills. You will play an important role in keeping UK infrastructure moving through the successful production of cementitious products.


Responsibilities

* Learn your engineering craft, gaining a detailed understanding of cement engineering, manufacturing and production through a dedicated Tarmac development programme and the CRH international technical programme.
* Contribute to successful continuous plant performance and address production and process bottlenecks for improved output, stability and environmental aspects.
* Assist in tracking key process parameters and analyse data to optimise plant performance, making recommendations for modifications.
* Gain knowledge of all safety policies, procedures and practices, and lead and drive safety standards and improvements.
* Participate in root‑cause analysis to understand the costs and business impacts of plant unplanned downtime.
* Develop knowledge of integrating new systems into plant operations.
* After the first three years primarily based on one plant, gain experience on plants across the UK and Ireland Cluster through international assignments.

Graduates are invested through training, ongoing support and opportunities to work on exciting projects. You will take part in the Graduate Core Skills Development Programme, designed to boost business knowledge, strengthen soft skills, and connect with other graduates and leaders across Tarmac.


Qualifications

Essential

* Degree in Mechanical Engineering
* Driving licence and ability to travel
* Willingness to work in different locations across the UK and Ireland, including international assignments in the future

Desirable

* Organisational, communication and analytical skills
* Passion for working safely
* Enthusiasm for starting a career in the building materials industry
