Position Overview
We have an exciting job opportunity for the position of Resettlement supervisor at Union Terrace Supported Accommodation working within the CYC Housing Options and Support Service. We are looking to recruit a committed and enthusiastic person to provide high quality support to all staff and customers living in Union Terrace.
Agency Setup
Union Terrace is a resettlement supported accommodation for single homeless people/rough sleepers and childless couples (primarily Adult males aged 18+). It provides accommodation and support with a view to helping people move on into more independent accommodation suitable to their needs.
Role Responsibilities
The successful applicant will provide a well maintained and responsive Resettlement Accommodation Project to customers who are homeless and need supported housing. They will manage and lead the staff team within the service to deliver support and accommodation. The successful applicant will manage and provide appropriate emotional and physical support to people accessing the service, many of whom are vulnerable and under a lot of stress.
You will organise an ongoing staff rota to provide cover at the accommodation project on a 24‑hour basis, 365 days per year, and will be expected to be part of the shift rota patterns, and line‑manage Support Workers (days and nights) ensuring they are properly trained, motivated and supported. You will take responsibility for ensuring the accommodation is kept in good repair in all matters of health and safety, and other areas of housing management such as ensuring payment of rent and service charges, addressing residents’ social needs, etc.
Qualifications and Experience
Experience of working with homeless people and management of supported accommodation is essential, along with an understanding of the issues surrounding the client groups.
Skills and Competencies
You will need to demonstrate sympathetic and firm behaviour, and be able to cope in situations which can be stressful as well as rewarding. As this role is public facing, applicants must be able to demonstrate competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1 (fluently and spontaneously). You must be capable of working on your own initiative under the guidance of a manager.
