Job Title: Pastoral Support Assistant

Location: Syon Manor College, Isleworth, London, TW7 5AJ

Salary: Up to £23,500 per annum (not pro rata)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Monday – Thursday: 8:30am – 4:30pm

Friday: 8:30am – 4:00pm

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

Start Date: September/October 2025

As part of our continued growth, we're excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Pastoral Support Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team at Syon Manor College, a specialist post-16 provision for young people with Autism and complex needs, located in Middlesex.

About the Role

In this vital role, you will work closely with teaching staff to provide high-quality support for our students, ensuring they are able to access learning in a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment. You'll be part of a passionate team dedicated to helping every learner thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Support subject teachers and tutors to deliver outstanding educational experiences for all students

Help implement education policies and procedures to ensure consistency and best practice

Provide individual or group support to students, helping them engage with the curriculum as independently as possible

Promote students' physical, emotional, and educational development in line with company policies

Assist with the organisation of classroom spaces, learning resources, and student groupings to support a stimulating learning environment

Use, store, and maintain equipment responsibly, reporting any issues promptly

Adapt support strategies to meet the needs of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

What We're Looking For

Experience supporting students with Autism and/or Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Ability to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour

A proactive, empathetic, and student-focused approach

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

About us

Syon Manor College is a new post-16 provision for young people with autism and complex needs. The college will offer a broad curriculum of academic, vocational and life skills learning including BTECs, GCSEs, Functional Skills and ASDAN accreditations which will work towards Employability or Independence and Duke of Edinburgh qualifications.

For over 16 years Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. We are a leading provider of education for neurodivergent young people and young adults. Syon Manor College is an independent, a high-quality learning and skills provider supporting young people aged 16 to 25. With three sites across London in Isleworth, Hillingdon, and Uxbridge, the college provides personalised education and support in an autism-specific environment. The Isleworth site, the largest, has been open for two years, while the Hillingdon and Uxbridge sites were added in September 2024.
