Overview
A growing and forward‑thinking manufacturing business in the FMCG sector is looking to recruit a Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their on‑site engineering team. The role offers a great mix of reactive maintenance, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and project work, making it ideal for an engineer who enjoys variety and continuous improvement.
The Role
As a Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of production equipment. Working as part of a small engineering team, you'll be responsible for maintaining machinery, responding to breakdowns, and supporting ongoing improvement projects across the site.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out maintenance on production and site equipment
* Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns
* Complete PPM schedules to a high standard
* Support continuous improvement initiatives across the site
* Assist with installation and commissioning of new machinery
* Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
* Ensure spare parts are managed and ordered correctly
* Work in line with health, safety, and hygiene standards
* Support maintenance of refrigeration and associated plant
Requirements
Essential
* Multi‑skilled engineering background (electrical & mechanical)
* Level 3 qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
* Previous experience within FMCG or manufacturing environments
* Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills
* Good communication and teamwork skills
* Comfortable using PC‑based maintenance systems
Desirable
* Experience within food manufacturing
* Knowledge of sachet machines, conveyors, or packaging equipment
* HVAC, boilers, or CHP systems experience
* Basic PLC knowledge or programming
* Continuous improvement / lean manufacturing experience
* Project or installation experience
