Overview
Environmental Manager – Major Infrastructure Project in the Midlands. This role is part of a high‑profile civil engineering scheme, leading environmental compliance and performance across complex works. Competitive salary, car allowance and benefits.
Responsibilities
* Lead implementation of the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP).
* Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits and planning conditions.
* Act as main point of contact for the client and regulatory bodies.
* Oversee environmental audits, inspections and reporting.
* Provide guidance on earthworks, water management, waste, ecology, noise, air quality and contamination.
* Review RAMS and method statements from an environmental perspective.
* Manage and mentor Environmental Advisors on site.
* Drive sustainability initiatives and promote environmental best practice across the project.
Requirements
* Proven experience as an Environmental Manager within civil engineering or major infrastructure.
* Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.
* Experience working for Tier 1 contractors or on large, multi‑disciplinary projects.
* Confident engaging with clients, regulators and senior project teams.
* Degree qualified in Environmental Management (or similar discipline).
* IEMA Practitioner or above (or working towards).
Desired Skills and Experience
* Degree (or equivalent) in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
* Chartered or working towards CEnv / IEMA Practitioner or above.
* Proven experience as Environmental Manager on major infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
* Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks.
* Experience working within Tier 1 contractor environments.
* Demonstrable experience managing environmental teams on complex, multi‑disciplinary projects.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
