Responsibilities
* In accordance with state and federal regulations, assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy and other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
* Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assist and coach pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cashiers in operating the pharmacy cash registers.
* Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
* Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services; resolve issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
* Develop strong relationships with valuable customers and share customer service best practices with the team.
* Assist the pharmacist with entry of patient and drug information, ensure accuracy, fill prescriptions, verify medicines, and check for possible interactions; assist with scheduling and workflow as directed.
* Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty; adhere to Company policies on pharmacy errors and quality improvement.
* Register all related sales on the assigned cash register and assist customers in locating products; handle non-urgent calls to physicians as needed.
* Process manual third-party prescription claims and perform other clerical duties as assigned; assist with inventory management and warehouse processes related to Rx drugs.
* Assist in administering clinical services as required and coordinate with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
* Develop and maintain relationships with the local medical community and health groups to support growth opportunities.
* Ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, neat, and in order; comply with company policies and maintain respectful coworker relationships.
* Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
* Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state requirements; certification may be required as a condition of promotion.
* Attends training requested by management and maintains knowledge and skills in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest developments.
Qualifications
* Basic Qualifications: Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico); willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
* Preferred Qualifications: Prefer six months of experience in retail; prior Walgreens experience; strong math skills for accurate dispensing; good computer skills; knowledge of store inventory control; PTCB certification.
