Job Description
An established and well-respected regional law firm in the West Midlands is seeking an experienced Commercial Litigation Solicitor to lead and manage its growing litigation department.
This is a senior appointment offering the opportunity to take the helm of a dynamic and well-regarded team currently consisting of seven fee earners, ranging from junior solicitors to partner-level professionals.
You will be responsible for the leadership of the litigation department, handling a varied caseload while supporting and mentoring team members. The department covers a broad spectrum of work, including:
* Commercial Litigation
* Property Litigation
* Employment Law (contentious)
* Contentious Probate
* General Civil Litigation
This position would suit an experienced commercial litigator ready to step into a leadership role. It would also be an excellent opportunity for a Senior Associate looking to take the next step in their career, with realistic short-term partnership prospects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the litigation department
* Supervise and mentor junior and mid-level fee earners
* Manage your own caseload of complex commercial litigation matters
* Contribute to business development and client relationship management
* Support the development and implementation of department strategy
* Attend and support operations in the firm's two other offices on an ad hoc basis
Requirements:
* 8+ years PQE in Commercial Litigation (guideline only)
* Extensive experience in shareholder and partnership disputes, director disqualification proceedings, and professional negligence claims
* Solid background in High Court litigation, with experience managing and appearing in high-value or complex claims
* Strong technical expertise in commercial disputes
* Demonstrable leadership qualities or clear potential to step into a leadership position
* Ambitious, proactive, and confident in building trust across the team and wider firm
* Strong commercial acumen and excellent client-handling skills
* Excellent organisational, analytical, and communication skills
