About the Role
We are seeking an experienced SEND Teacher to join a specialist independent setting in Sunderland supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism and associated communication or learning differences.
You’ll play a key role in delivering creative, individualised learning programmes that help every pupil achieve their potential — academically, socially, and emotionally. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced teacher who thrives in a nurturing, small-class environment where strong relationships and flexibility are central to success.

Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to EHCP outcomes
* Use a variety of teaching strategies to support communication, independence, and emotional regulation
* Create a calm, structured classroom environment using positive behaviour support principles
* Work closely with therapists, SENCOs, and support staff to ensure joined-up provision
* Contribute to reviews, reports, and planning for pupil progress

Person Specification
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS) with proven SEND experience
* Skilled in working with pupils with ASC, communication needs or complex learning profiles
* Excellent understanding of differentiation, visual supports and sensory-based learning
* Compassionate, patient, and confident managing diverse classroom needs
* Committed to safeguarding, inclusion, and lifelong learning
