Headquartered in Little Rock, Arkansas (USA), First Orion is seeking a Communications Network Engineer based in the United Kingdom who will report to the Associate Director, Application Support.
TheTelecommunications Network Engineer is a full-time, permanent employee position andwillbe responsible forimplementing and monitoring infrastructure used in First Orion telecommunication solutions.
This isanindividual contributor role with no direct people management responsibilities.
Whatyou’llbe doing:
1. Testing, deploying, troubleshooting, andmaintainingREST API solutions
2. Testing, deploying, troubleshooting, andmaintainingSIP telecommunication solutions
3. Assistin tuning performance and ensure high availability of infrastructure
4. Developing test automation frameworks in collaboration with rest of the team
5. Issue troubleshooting, tracking and analysis for patterns and resolution
6. Support and validation of deployments, upgrades, and maintenance activities
7. On Call Rotation for Tier 3 support
8. Identifyopportunities for continuous improvement of support infrastructure and First Orion solutions
Whatyou’llneed:
9. Industry experience with REST API, SIP, IP, Routing, Firewall, Monitoring
10. Basic knowledge of AWS infrastructure, including ECS,Cloudwatch, S3, and network routing.
11. Network Protocol Analysis (Wireshark,Opnet, Gigamon,etc) – ability to dissect network telecommunication protocols over IP
12. Experience testing and diagnosing issues on Linux servers. TCPDUMP, CURL, and otherOS basedtools.
13. Good communicationskills
14. Technical skill set to implement andmaintainoperational solutions for monitoring, alerting, and tracking issues.
15. Strong analytical skills to perform effective troubleshooting
16. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in high stress environment, independently and as part of team
17. Attention to detail and work product validation
18. Team player able to effectively interact with colleagues and stake holders across the company
19. Change management in complex environments
Bonus Points:
20. Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related area of study
21. 5+ years of industry experience focused on telecommunications support and system administration
22. Experiencemaintaininglarge scale implementations
23. Linux Shell Scripting (CSH, KSH, BASH, andetc)
24. Data-Driven Scripting (awk, sed,etc)
25. Data Bricks experience
This role primarily follows UK business hours. Due to First Orion’s global operations, occasional early starts (as early as 6:00 AM UK time) arerequiredto support overnight maintenance windows and service escalations aligned with US Central Time. There is an on-call rotation that takes place once per month. Business-hoursescalations are supported through a shared resource model. Salary will be £28,200-£52,800 depending upon experience.
