The Adult ADHD service is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic full‑time Band 7 Clinical Specialist Nurse to plan and deliver nurse‑led Adult ADHD clinics and interventions within a multi‑disciplinary and inter‑agency framework. The role includes assessment and diagnosis of ADHD in adults, prescribing and monitoring medication under medical guidance, and managing the healthcare of complex and vulnerable individuals.
The Adult ADHD service is a Trust‑wide service covering Liverpool, the Wirral, Cheshire West and Chester and Cheshire East. The core team is based at the Stein Centre, St Catherine's Hospital, Birkenhead; however, the contractual base is negotiable and clinics will mainly be delivered across Cheshire West and Chester and Cheshire East.
Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver nurse‑led Adult ADHD clinics and interventions.
* Prescribe and monitor ADHD medication under the guidance and supervision of medical staff.
* Conduct assessment and diagnosis of ADHD in adults.
* Support service development by responding to local needs and establishing effective care pathways.
* Facilitate training for GPs and other primary care staff and act as a resource for secondary services.
* Establish performance monitoring systems, report outcomes, and be accountable for own practice.
* Operate autonomously nurse‑led clinics that assess and treat patients, referring when necessary to other professionals or services.
* Routinely undertake independent and supplementary nurse prescribing.
* Screen patients for risk factors and early signs of illness.
* Take overall responsibility for assessment planning, development, implementation and evaluation of individual care programmes.
* Assist in developing assessment tools, training packs and pathways in accordance with NICE guidance.
* Comply with HSC 2000/026, Patient Group Directions and NMC Code of Conduct to prescribe locally agreed treatments with established protocols.
* Offer supervision and reflective practice within a multi‑disciplinary team.
* Set, monitor and evaluate standards of practice to ensure quality and effective governance.
* Utilise expertise in research‑based nursing practice, employing critical appraisal skills to expand and inform clinical practice and underpin concepts for clinical governance and best practice.

Shortlisting will commence on 13th November. All new starters will commence their post on one fixed start date each month, in line with the Prepare to Care (P2C) induction programme which offers up to 3 weeks of training to meet the induction and initial training requirements of the role.
