Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager – Specialist Subcontractor
Location: Maidstone, Kent
Salary: Competitive + progression
We’re representing a well-established construction business operating across the South East, who are looking to appoint a Senior QS / Commercial Manager to take charge of their commercial function.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a pivotal role within a growing specialist subcontractor division. With the current commercial lead planning to scale back, the successful candidate will be positioned to progress in the near future.
The Role
* Take ownership of all commercial and contractual activity across multiple drylining and fit-out packages.
* Manage monthly client valuations and applications for payment.
* Oversee procurement, tendering, and negotiation with numerous small subcontractors and one-man-band outfits.
* Administer subcontractor accounts, variations, and final accounts.
* Monitor costs, margins, and overall project performance.
* Provide commercial reporting and support senior decision-making.
* Build structure and processes to strengthen the commercial team.
About You
* Senior QS / Commercial Manager background within a specialist subcontractor.
* Experience managing subcontractor accounts and client valuations.
* Knowledge of interiors, drylining, or fit-out trades preferred (not essential).
* Commercially astute with strong negotiation skills.
* Capable of stepping into a leadership role and taking ownership of a division.
