Salary: £47,017+ depending on experience
What you’ll be doing:
· Supporting the development of solutions to technical issues as a member of a project team, reporting to more senior employees and directly to the customer
· Lead and/or support solutions to production and manufacturing technical queries raised by suppliers, internal stakeholders (i.e. Operations Team) and non-conformance reports within required project time frames
· Developing design solutions based on customer requirements, validating, and verifying through the design process
· The generation of design and/or manufacturing detailed design through Computer Aided Design (CAD) models and drawings
· Carrying out technical analysis and investigations, and preparing reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability
Your skills and experiences:
Essentials:
* Educated to degree level (or working towards) in a relevant engineering discipline, or to HNC level with relevant experience
* Experience producing and analysing concept designs, as well as writing and presenting technical reports and specifications
* Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders to produce designs to customer requirements
* Familiarity with engineering drawing standards and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
* Working knowledge of technical office processes, standards and standard instructions (i.e. Business Management System and Product Life Cycle Model)
Desirable:
* Working experience using CAD software (CREO Parametrics) and PLM software (Teamcenter)
* P revious production, manufacturing, machining, welding, casting and assembly experience

The Weapon Systems UK Mechanical Engineering team:
This role is to support the M777 Major Structures Manufacturing Contract, supporting the overall delivery of technical and production decisions, and leading on specific engineering tasks as defined by the Technical Lead.
As part of BAE Systems Platforms and Services sector, Weapon Systems (UK) designs, develops, manufactures, and supports artillery systems, naval guns, and provides engineering capability to the wider BAE Systems business. Within the Mechanical Engineering team, you may also be involved in supporting technical changes to our existing product portfolio (i.e. M777 towed howitzer, 4.5” MK.8 MOD 1 Naval Gun, AS90 Self Propelled Howitzer & 105 Light Gun) through analysis, concept design and tests and trials. This role also allows you to put forward your innovative ideas and solutions to the next generation of weapon platforms for the future battle space.
