Data Analyst (Excel-Focused)
Location: Antrim, Northern Ireland (On-site / predominantly office-based)Duration: Initial 3-month contract (with potential extension)
OverviewOur client is seeking a detail-oriented Data Analyst to support a range of ongoing energy and data-focused initiatives. This role is heavily centred on Excel-based data analysis, with a primary focus on improving data quality, consistency, and accuracy. You will work with large volumes of customer and operational data, playing a key role in ensuring reliable datasets to support critical downstream processes across the business.
Key Responsibilities
1. Extract, analyse, and manipulate data within Excel spreadsheets
2. Perform extensive data cleaning and validation, addressing poor or inconsistent data quality
3. Identify and resolve errors, anomalies, and data gaps
4. Cross-reference and reconcile data across multiple sources
5. Support migration from legacy systems to new platforms
6. Produce clean, accurate datasets for reporting and operational use
7. Work with customer data and meter-related information
8. Support data accuracy for energy supply and smart meter processes
9. Ensure data integrity to prevent downstream issues ( incorrect records, billing/top-up errors)
Key Projects / Context
10. Migration of data from a legacy system into a new platform
11. Supporting implementation and integration of new systems (including clearing functions)
12. Addressing inconsistent and unreliable datasets requiring significant cleansing
13. Supporting high-volume data handling within an energy/utilities environment
Key Skills & ExperienceEssential
14. Advanced Excel skills (core requirement), including:Data manipulation and cleansingFormulas, lookups, and reconciliation techniques
15. Proven experience working with large datasets
16. Strong attention to detail and accuracy
17. Demonstrated experience in data validation and quality assurance
18. Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve data issues
Desirable
19. Experience supporting system migrations or working with legacy data
20. Background in energy, utilities, or customer data environments
21. Understanding of data reconciliation and cross-referencing processes
